A Series of Dental Educational Video Projects

The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry is proud to announce a new concept in continuing Dental Education. The Academy, through its Educational Video Committee, and under the guidance of its Council, has embarked on the production of a library of Dental Educational Video projects.

The Academy and its Educational Video Committee are strictly administered on a not-for-profit basis. The concept of the series is to introduce high quality educational materials at extremely reasonable sale prices. The clinicians participating in the project and the committee volunteer their time and efforts.

New technology is employed, coupling high resolution digital recording with a head-mounted camera containing a fiber optic light source, magnified operating telescopes, and an intraoral video camera. The images created by this system show views of dental relationships and procedures never before obtainable. The image on the tape is identical to the view the clinician has through his or her loupes, even when working in a mirror.

Most projects contain from one to three tapes and follow the same general format as follows:

1. The tape begins with an "interview" in which the Clinician discusses philosophies of diagnosis and treatment and the specifics of the techniques involved.
2. The laboratory phase of the tape shows all the procedures in detail.
3. When indicated, actual clinical procedures are demonstrated, again in great detail.

Each project stands alone as a complete exercise in continuing dental education. The goal of the Academy is to produce and make available to the Profession a complete library of video projects including all aspects of Restorative Dentistry.
